Scleral Lenses

What are Scleral Lenses?

Scleral lenses are extra-large type of gas permeable (GP) contact lenses. Unlike traditional contact lenses, scleral lenses vault over the entire cornea, leaving a space between the lens and the corneal surface. They sit on the white part of your eye called sclera.

This unique design allows scleral lenses the most comfortable contact lenses, and also provides excellent vision.

They are particularly useful for managing eye conditions such as:

  • Keratoconus

  • High Myopia

  • High Astigmatism

  • Irregular Cornea Shape after eye surgery (i.e. RK, Corneal transplant…)

  • Post-refractive surgery (ie. LASIK, PRK…)

  • Dry Eye Syndrome
