Optos® Ultra-Widefield Retinal Imaging

What is it?

Optos captures an ultra-wide digital image of the inside of your eye, allowing us to see up to 200 degrees of your retina in a single image—far more than traditional retinal photography.

Why is it important?

Many eye diseases begin in the far edges of the retina, where they may go unnoticed during a standard examination. Ultra-widefield imaging helps us detect problems earlier and monitor changes over time.

Patient Benefits

  • Views up to 200° of the retina in one image

  • Early detection of retinal tears, retinal detachments, diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and other eye conditions

  • Digital images allow us to compare changes year after year

  • Often reduces the need for dilation during routine examinations*

*Some patients may still require dilation depending on their individual eye health.
